The Scholarship
Each year the Michael LoVerme Memorial Foundation awards a $1000 scholarship to one service-oriented Merrimack High School graduating Senior. The award is need blind and is bestowed based on the submission of a mixed media project or essay addressing the following prompt:
The Michael LoVerme Memorial Foundation offers a one year, $1000 scholarship to one graduating Merrimack High School Senior in memory of Michael LoVerme (Class of 2006). Michael’s passion for family, friendship and helping others was unparalleled and continues to inspire those who knew him. No matter what he was doing, he always found a way to include others and enrich the lives of those around him. All interested applicant should submit a mixed media project or an essay that details how the applicant uses something they love doing to benefit others. The Michael LoVerme Memorial Foundation will review each submission and determine the recipient based on the submission which best embodies Mike’s legacy of service.
In addition to the general content we value:
- The submission fully answers the prompt (make sure the connection between what you do and how it benefits others is clear)
- The submission is well done (there are no grammar errors, videos reflect care in thinking and editing, photos or presentations are well laid out, not blurry, etc.)
- The submission is creative (whether an essay, a photo journal, a video, or a format we’ve never seen before, the submission should be a good representative of the applicant’s self rather than a cookie cutter fill in the blank, it should feel more like a poem than a mad lib)
